Why Should You Use Corrosion Resistant TMT Bar?
TMT bars are a newly born, technologically improved version of TOR steel that was used before the invention of the TMT bars.
Twisting operation is not involved in the manufacturing process of TMT (Thermo-Mechanically Treated). The absence of residual stress increases the corrosion-resistant property of the TMT bars.
Here are 3 important reasons why you should use corrosion-resistant TMT bars:
- Unlike the TOR steel that gets easily corroded in the concrete because of the existence of chloride ions, TMT bars are corrosion-resistant because they are made with improved technology.
- Along with being corrosion-resistant, TMT bars are also fire-resistant.
Their high thermal stability can resist temperatures ranging from 400-600 degree Celsius.
- TMT bars have also a superior bonding strength.
The external ribs along the entire length of the bars foster great bonding strength between the concrete/cement and the bar.
